Symptoms of Asthma & Allergic Conditions

Hey fever, also called ALLERGIC rhinitis, causes cold-like symptoms, but unlike a cold, hay fever isn't caused by a virus. If symptoms of a cold last more than 2 weeks or continue recurring, you may be suffering from ALLERGIES. Hay fever happens to be the #1 risk factor for recurrent sinus infections.

ALLERGIC asthma is the most common type of asthma. About 90% of children with childhood asthma have ALLERGIES, compared with over 50% of adults with asthma. Inhaling specific substances called allergens (ALLERGY triggers such as pollen, dust mites, or molds) brings on the symptoms associated with ALLERGIC asthma.

    "Bucket Theory" of Allergies

Understanding how allergies develope and progress into the symptoms such as sneezing, wheezing and itching is not a simple matter. The "Bucket Theory" illustrates this progression that we are all familiar with, but may not totally understand why!

    Treatment Protocols

Allergic symptoms are caused by a sensitivity which certain persons develop to normally harmless substances. A susceptible person who is exposed to these substances may have symptoms of hay fever, asthma, cough, post-nasal drip, headache, stomach and intestinal disturbances, rash, eczema or hives.

Substances capable of producing allergy are called allergens. When a particular allergen is absorbed by the body, it produces allergic changes in various organs such as the skin, eyes, nose, sinuses, throat, lungs, etc. Sensitivity usually occurs only after repeated exposure to the allergen. Susceptible patients usually are sensitive to more than one allergen.

ALLERGY and asthma care Center treats all age groups and many ALLERGIC and non-allergic disorders . We assure you that all of our new patients will be seen by our board-certified doctor.
